Call for Erasmus+ students to return home

Dear students,

In view of the declaration of the state of emergency as of March 12, 2020 and based on today's (March 13, 2020) decree of the BUT Crisis Staff, we are hereby urging you to return immediately from abroad back home. This applies to all BUT students and staff who are currently abroad.

All Erasmus+ participants will be able to reimburse travel expenses or other extraordinary related costs that will need to be supported by documents, so please keep them. All prematurely terminated mobility under Erasmus+ will be recognised as force majeure. We will deal with administrative matters related to early termination of study stays and internships after your return to the Czech Republic. In the case of difficulties or unprovisable but expedient expenses, you will be reimbursed to the FIT in agreement with the coordinator.

If you continue your study abroad, there is a high risk that the local university will also be closed over time and that the lessons will take place on-line. Based on the information from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, a later return may be impossible due to stopped cross-border traffic. More on the website of the Ministry of Transport and the Ministry of the Interior.

If you have not already done so, or if your decision has changed, please tell us immediately your decision - to return or continue to stay abroad. If you decide to return, contact the study advisor. FIT will help you to solve your study complications.

We also remind you of the mandatory quarantine, which applies to all who return from high-risk countries from 13 March. The list of risk countries may change, so check the Ministry of Health website. Carefully read and follow instructions on Information to ensure teaching at university.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation in managing this situation

BUT emergency measures due to the spread of coronavirus

Dear students,

Based on today's emergency measures of BUT due to the spread of coronavirus https://www.vutbr.cz/en/coronavirus, the personal presence of students at the Faculty of Information Technology in connection with their studies is prohibited until at least 12 April 2020 (including personal consultations). You will receive updated instructions on studying in your courses early next week. Please continue to pay attention to your studies, as it is possible that contact teaching will begin directly with the examination period. Study administration will be handled exclusively electronically or by mail.

We recommend to all students who live at the dormitory to leave the dormitory if possible. In addition, the residents are obliged to contact the official designated sites and management of KaM in the event of symptoms of the disease. Accommodated students are also obliged to observe sanitary and safety measures and minimize their stay in the common areas.

The aim of BUT is to enable, even in the emergency mode, regular completion of studies for final year students and fulfillment of all study obligations for other students.

The library and student club U Kachničky are closed. The study department will be closed for personal contact tomorrow. The FIT canteen will be closed from Monday 16 March 2020.

BUT shall provide further instructions by 25 March 2020 latest.

The primary channel that teachers will use for communication with you is your student email at FIT.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation

Safety measure of the Ministry of Health - situation at FIT

Dear students,

due to today's emergency measures of the Ministry of Health of the Czech Republic, we have been forced to cancel all the lectures, seminars, laboratory classes and consultations. These measures are valid from March 11, 2020 until further notice.

In the next few hours the guarantors or teachers will let you know about the planned measures for specific subjects, or how the lectures and seminars will be replaced in the next seven days (up to and including March 17). We expect that the measures will last at least for this period.

At the beginning of the next week you will learn more about the planned course of the semester.

There is no need to worry, it is certainly a priority for us to make everything go smoothly.

Please do not go to school unless absolutely necessary.

CVT (Computer Centre), school libraries and sports facilities will be closed from tomorrow. The student club U Kachničky will also be closed. The FIT canteen and the FIT Study Department will be operating.

All the public events at the faculty are canceled or postponed indefinitely during this period.

Students who are also employees of the faculty can attend the faculty due to their work duties if necessary. Postgraduate students may attend the faculty for the reason of replacing their full-time classes (for example, if there are webinars instead of exercises, they may organize them from the faculty premises) if necessary.

If you have any questions, please contact your teachers, study advisors or vice-deans, but please use the means of mass communication first (courses forums, Facebook groups, Discord...) rather than individual questions.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation in managing this situation

Jaroslav Dytrych, Richard Růžička and Pavel Zemčík
