The success of the panel discussion "Code with Impact." And another one is already in the works

For many years, FIT has run a program to support student creativity and entrepreneurship called Star(t)up@FIT.

Entrepreneurship is a mindset characterized by proactivity and creativity, a desire to work on projects and realize one’s potential through them. A new series of panel discussions offered by our faculty this summer semester aims to foster this approach among students. Who are they intended for? Those who already have a nearly finished product and need help getting their business off the ground. But also those who don’t yet have a big idea, because this is exactly where they can find plenty of inspiration or new contacts.

The first panel discussion—“Code with Impact: Where to Look for Ideas That Make Sense?” – took place at FIT on Wednesday, March 25. Five successful “startup founders,” founders of technology companies with ties to our faculty, accepted the invitation to participate in the discussion. Among them were individuals who have already sold their successful business projects, as well as current owners. Namely: Jan Najvárek (co-founder of Artin and BringAuto), Martin Javorka (co-founder of Zaitra), Petr Schwarz (co-founder of Phonexia), Adam Herout (co-founder of AngelCam), and Jan Mayer (co-founder of Dataweps, managing director at Heureka CZ/SK).

It seems there is a “hunger” for this kind of topic at FIT—the lecture hall was packed to capacity, with more than 60 students registered. And above all: There was lively discussion, and the panelists shared a wealth of interesting experiences. What conclusions were reached? For instance, that a brilliant idea isn’t necessary; what’s key is to just get started and get to know the world—and focus on the existing needs of society and industry. The key isn’t to find a niche in the market at any cost, but to strive to do things better than others. And many other topics. You can read about the first panel discussion in our press release.

In April, you have the opportunity to attend the second one, titled “You Have an Idea. Now What?: From Concept to First Prototype.” Mark your calendars for April 22. Details can be found on the faculty website.
