The Idea Challenge@FIT competition distributed nearly 80,000 crowns among 14 student ideas
A fair student dating site, an AI tool for personalized recommendations and virtual clothing try-ons, and a community app for urban exploration (urbex) enthusiasts. These are just some of the ideas that stood out on June 3 in the competition for entrepreneurial students Idea Challenge@FIT 2026. Student teams from FIT VUT presented their projects during yesterday’s finals. In the end, the expert panel distributed financial support totaling nearly 80,000 crowns among all the finalist projects.
Each submitted project underwent evaluation by two expert reviewers prior to the finals. This allowed students to receive feedback even before their actual presentations. During the finals, they then presented their ideas in the form of pitch presentations to the panel. “This year has once again shown that FIT students come up with ideas that not only demonstrate technical quality but also the ambition to address the real needs of users or society,” commented Vítězslav Beran, the competition’s organizer and associate dean, on the competition’s progress.
The competition is part of the faculty initiative Star(t)up@FIT, which aims to support student entrepreneurship. It is followed by the summer competition BoosterChallenge VUT, which is open to all students at the Brno University of Technology and focuses on technological development and the journey from idea to first prototype.
