From Category B to the Top Ranks of Research: BUT and FIT Succeeded in the National Evaluation
The Brno University of Technology achieved the highest A rating in the second comprehensive evaluation of research organizations in the higher education sector, and compared to the previous comprehensive evaluation from 2017, it has thus moved up from category B to join the ranks of the best research universities in the Czech Republic. At the same time, BUT became the only technical university in the Czech Republic to achieve this advancement. This marks the fulfillment of one of the key strategic goals set by the university’s rector, Assoc. Prof. Ladislav Janíček.
The Faculty of Information Technology at BUT also contributed significantly to this result, having achieved an “A” rating in the evaluation of the university’s constituent units. The evaluation confirmed the high and consistently balanced level of research across the faculty, its international reach, and its capacity for technology transfer and the training of young professional talent.
This top rating enhances the prestige of both BUT and the FIT; it will also have a concrete impact on institutional funding and may improve opportunities for participation in international projects and partnerships with the private sector. You can read more about the evaluation process, the FIT’s contribution to the university’s results, and its implications in our press release.
