Early September at FIT is marked by major professional events

Early September will see the Faculty of Information Technology at Brno University of Technology host two specialist events aimed at the IT community. On 2–3 September 2026, the faculty will host WUG Days 2026, the largest free educational conference in the Czech Republic focusing on Microsoft technologies. This will be followed on Friday, 4 September 2026, by SQL Server Bootcamp 2026 for database developers, administrators and BI specialists.

WUG Days will feature 40 practical presentations

The two-day WUG Days 2026 will feature 30 talks by leading Czech experts in Microsoft technologies. The talks will take place in three concurrent sessions. The programme will focus on the latest developments and best practices in the development of desktop, web and mobile applications, the management and security of IT infrastructure, and the practical use of the cloud and artificial intelligence. “We’ve been organising WUG Days since 2016, and in that time nothing has impacted software development as dramatically as artificial intelligence. That’s why we’ve built this year’s programme around experts who actually work with it. No hype, just real-world experience,” says main organiser David Gešvindr, summarising what makes this year’s event special. That is precisely why a large part of this year’s programme consists of practice-oriented talks, in which leading Czech specialists share their experiences of deploying AI in real-world development. Participants will learn how coding agents have proven their worth in one of the world’s most complex codebases, what is actually sent to a model’s context window, and how it can be influenced by instruction files. Other topics include, for example, the differences between individual coding agents and ways to manage costs when using them, as well as an overview of approaches that have proved successful in day-to-day work with agents – and those that have fallen short.

During WUG Days, experts from Microsoft, SolarWinds, MANN+HUMMEL, Edhouse, RIGANTI and other technology companies will be speaking. The conference will be held in-person only. Alongside the technical programme, its aim is to facilitate face-to-face meetings between community members, the sharing of experiences and networking. WUG Days 2026

SQL Server Bootcamp will focus on the Microsoft Data Platform

The very next day, 4 September 2026, FIT VUT will host SQL Server Bootcamp 2026. This free one-day conference is aimed at database developers, administrators and BI specialists, and will cover current topics related to the Microsoft SQL Server, Microsoft Fabric and Power BI platforms.

“We have been organising SQL Server Bootcamp since 2016 so that people who work with data on a daily basis have the opportunity to meet and share knowledge and experience that cannot be gleaned from documentation,” says Gešvindr, describing the main aim of the event. This year’s programme comprises twenty talks across four parallel sessions: topics range from the internal workings of SQL Server, through high availability and AI integration, to DAX, Direct Lake and the operational costs of Microsoft Fabric. Alongside purely technical issues, there will also be insights into the career paths of today’s DBAs and the limits of what Fabric can achieve.

Experts from Microsoft, Gopas, DataBrothers, SQLMechanics and other companies will share their experiences. This conference, too, will be held exclusively in person and, alongside the technical programme, will offer opportunities for discussion and networking within the SQL community. The programme is designed so that administrators, database developers and BI specialists alike will find something to suit them.
