Implementation of a simulation system in the PIN language
Event-driven simulation, parallel programming, generative communication, Linda, PIN, object-oriented approach
PIN is a proposal of the language for parallel programming. The language was designed for writing hardware independent parallel programs on the high level of abstraction [Prikryl:MOSIS96:PIN], and it is based on the generative communication (GC) mechanism [Gelernter:85:GenerativeCommunication]. The articles Prikryl:MOSIS93:DiscreteSimulationInLinda and Prikryl:MOSIS94:ExtensionOfLindaAndDS had shown how the implementation of a simple simulation system can be parallelized using the original Linda language, and how it can be done using the newly proposed extension of Linda, respectively. This article is the third-in-the-row, and it shows how the object-oriented approach of exploitation of the GC mechanism (talking about PIN) can help to avoid practical problems (see my BibTeX references in <a href
