Study targets

The Information Technology Master Degree Programme broads and deepens knowledge and skills of bachelor degree programme focused to informatics or information technology. Student of the Follow-Up Master Degree Programme acquire deeper knowledge in a chosen branch of study and will give him user and designer skills needed to be successful creative worker in the appropriate information technology branch, namely information systems and their security and safety, intelligent systems, computer systems, networks and communications, computer graphics and multimedia.

Admission Requirements

Precondition to be accepted to the Follow-Up master degree programme is to pass a bachelor or master degree programme at some university and to pass an entrance examination in specified subjects with specified minimum mark structure.

Conditions of graduation

A one-term study course is the basic teaching modulus of a study plan. Every field of study has compulsory courses (a student must pass all of them), compulsorily optional ones (a student chooses the required number of courses from each group of compulsorily optional courses or the required number of credits) and optional ones. A student chooses optional courses from a list within the given field. An offer of humanistic and social optional courses is an integral part of a study plan in all fields (these courses are marked as "PVH" in the study plans). A student takes at least one of these courses from the current offer.

A student of the Follow-Up Master Degree Programme must gain at least 15 credits in the 1st term of the study and at least 30 credits in every year of the study. In case a student studies just one semester in a certain academic year, the number of credits to be obtained in this year is reduced to 15 credits). In case a student registered less then 60 credits, in order to be allowed to continue the studies it is enough for him or her to obtain at least a half of the registered credits in such a year. Credits from recognized courses are not included in obtained credits for this condition. In case a student does not obtain a sufficient number of credits in a certain part of the studies, his or her studies are terminated due to non-fulfilment of the requirements according to § 56 subsection 1 letter b) of Higher Education Act.

In order to finish the Master Degree Study Programme it is necessary to complete courses successfully in the total extent of at least 120 credits, to prepare a masters final thesis and to pass a state final exam. The state final exam consists of a masters thesis defence and an oral part of the state final exam. The oral part consists of a technical discussion about two of the announced thematic areas between the student and members of the examining committee.

Rules for curriculum content setup

Compulsory courses are arranged from the point of view of prerequisites. Optional courses are offered with the condition of being preceded by courses that prepare the theoretical background for them.

Evaluation Principles

Study evaluation is based on marks obtained for specified items of the appropriate course, as home works, projects, oral presentations, tests, midterm examinations, final examinations, etc. The maximum number of marks is 100. The final study report consists of records of the overall marks and a classifying symbol from the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS)" (A; B; C; D; E; F). Weighted result average is obtained from the accurate classification ECTS (A=1; B=1,5; C=2; D=2,5; E=3). Student evaluation is based on the credit system compatible with ECTS. The student earns the credits for one course after fulfilling all requirements for completion of such a course including the final course examination. The final examination of each course can be written, oral, or combined.
