Abstract

Services a system delivers are called dependable when it is trustworthy enough that reliance can be placed on them because they are available, reliable, safe and secure. In the contribution, overview of methods for reliability enhancement of embedded real-time systems is presented with focus on mechanisms related to fault and error diagnosis and on fault tolerancy of the systems. It presents actual trends as well as possible directions of further research activities related to corresponding areas.
