Subject specific learning outcomes and competences

Secondary school physics matter.

Learning objectives

The repetition of the fundamental physical phenomena focusing on electricity and magnetism. This course helps students who had no or limited physics in previous secondary school education.

Why is the course taught

For an engineer, it is essential to be able to solve complex technical problems from different areas of technology. Necessary premise is creative analytical thinking.

Physics not only provides engineers with insights into the functioning of natural laws, but also teaches them how complex problems to analyze, describe and solve. If an engineer gets these skills, he will be successful throughout his professional career.

Prerequisite knowledge and skills

Secondary school mathematics and physics.

Study literature

  • Student texts of secondary school physics.
  • Student texts of secondary school physics. Halliday, David - Resnick, Robert - Walker, Jearl: Fundamentals of Physics
  • Středoškolské učebnice fyziky.

Syllabus of numerical exercises

On practice, there is made a repetition of secondary school physics, and successively some demo problems are commented from topics

  • basic concepts of mechanics,
  • electric field,
  • capacity,
  • electric current, resistors
  • magnetic field,
  • electromagnetic induction,
  • alternating current.

Progress assessment

The credit will be awarded if the student has no more than two non-attendance demonstration exercises (and unjustified).

Controlled instruction

Attendance is mandatory. A signature on the attendance list is required.

Exam prerequisites

The credit will be awarded if the student has no more than two non-attendance demonstration exercises (and unjustified).
