Advanced Biometric Systems

Introduction to biometric systems, analysis of signal processing at a general level, specific algorithms for signal processing in the area of biometric systems, specialized procedures for processing of selected biometric features (e.g. face thermo-images, 3D face or hand geometry, finger veins), error rates together with computation and their interpretation, securing of biometric systems and future biometric systems.

Students will learn basic principles of secure and reliable biometric systems design.

Learning objectives

To acquaint with the advanced concepts in the area of biometric systems.

Prerequisite knowledge and skills

Basic knowledge of signal processing, ideally also basic knowledge about biometric systems.

Controlled instruction
