English for Bachelors - Intermediate 2

Standardní kurs angličtiny pro středně pokročilé studenty zaměřený na obecnou i technickou angličtinu. Kurs je založen na integrovaném přístupu. Po gramatické části, která obsahuje různé komunikativní typy úkolů osvětlujících novou gramatiku, každá lekce zahrnuje úkoly pro četbu, poslech, psaní a mluvení. Během kursu dochází k velkému nárustu slovní zásoby. Cílem práce s technickými texty je výuka jazyka, nikoliv výuka odborného obsahu textu.

Students will be able to:
-    Use a wide range of vocabulary

Learning objectives

The course provides students not only with knowledge of general English, but also  with the vocabulary, grammar, and functions necessary to become operational in professional and social situations.

Why is the course taught

The course enables students to acquire professional vocabulary, language functions and language skills necessary for active participation in seminars, lectures and other activities in the information and communication technology sector.

Prerequisite knowledge and skills

To pass the BAN3 course or to acquire at least 41 points the entrance language test (instruction is in Czech only).

Progress assessment

The course takes over 13 weeks in the form of language exercises. Attendance at seminars is compulsory (75 %). Absence must be properly apologized.
Exam prerequisites:
75% attendance and active participation at classes, fulfilment of given assignments.

40% - semester test - evaluates the level of knowledge one has acquiered during the semester.

Controlled instruction

The content and forms of instruction in the evaluated course are specified by a regulation issued by the lecturer responsible for the course and updated for every academic year.

Final exam:

30% - reading - evaluates and asseses the abilities to work with a written text, abilities to analyze, synthetize, paraphrase, organize and reproduce information from the text.
30% - listening - evaluates and asseses the abilities to understand spoken English, abilities to analyze, synthetize, paraphrase, organize and reproduce information from the listening.

Exam prerequisites

75% attendance and active participation at classes, fulfilment of given assignments.

40% - semester test - evaluates the level of knowledge one has acquiered during the semester.
