Digital Image Processing and Analysis

Elements of visual perception. Methods and means of image data acquisition. Continuous and discrete imge representation. Image enhancement: contrast transforms, sharpening, noise suppression. Image restoration: types of distortion and interference, point and local correction, generalised inverse filtering, Wiener filter. Reconstruction of images from tomographic projections. Compression of image data - lossless and lossy. Elements of computer vision: edge detection, boarder and area detection, movement analysis, stereoscopic analysis.

Insight into methods of digital image processing as a generalisation of signal processing methods. Gainig practical experience with digital image processing.

Learning objectives

To provide basic knowledge of theoretical background and of practical applications of digital image processing, analysis and archiving´, including area of sc. computer vision

2 lab tests, 1 theoretical written test.
