History of information systems. Technology of information system with relational database system building. Portal type of information system. Technology of client and server programming (JavaScript and PHP). Transaction and their models. Technology of XML language.

Ability to model especially economic reality in the information system. Ability and knowledge to implement information systems under database technologies in the internet environment.

Learning objectives

To obtain common overview of information system branch. To get basic knowledge of information systems based on the database technology. To get basic knowledge of communication part of IS based on portal technology. In more details to get knowledge of management information systems.

Syllabus of lectures

  1. Information and information system, model and its realization, OLAP a OLTP.
  2. Object-oriented conceptual modelling, data definition, basic modeliling priciples, structures and colections I.
  3. Object-oriented conceptual modelling, data definition, basic modeliling priciples, structures and colections II. 
  4. Process definition and transaction modelling, ACID.
  5. Information system as a document circulation, SGML and XML.
  6. HTML and XHTML.
  7. XML as the mean for strctural data description - XML technology, DTD and XSD schema.
  8. XML technology of DOM and XPath.
  9. XSLT - transformations of XML. 
  10. Server part of information system - PHP I.
  11. Server part of information system - PHP II.
  12. Client part of information system - JavaScript I.
  13. Client part of information system - JavaScript II.

Progress assessment

At least half of points obtainable during the semester (tests and project), i.e. 25 points.

Controlled instruction

Mid-term test. Continuous checking of the project solution by the supervisor.
