Jelinek Summer Workshop on Speech and Language Technology (JSALT) 2025

In the summer of 2025, the Faculty of Information Technology at Brno University of Technology, in cooperation with Phonexia, with the support of OP JAK and under the patronage of the City of Brno and the South Moravian Region, will host the prestigious international event Jelinek Summer Workshop on Speech and Language Technology (JSALT). The event is regularly organized by Johns Hopkins University (Maryland, USA), and this year in cooperation with the European ESPERANTO project.

Thanks to this event, FIT BUT and Brno in general will become, for two months, a global center of research in speech technologies and language modeling.

The program is divided into two parts:

The Summer School (June 9-20) offers intensive education in speech and language technologies through morning lectures (open to the general public and available as YouTube video lectures) held in lecture hall E112 and afternoon labs.

The Research Workshop (June 23 - August 1) brings together more than 100 researchers from around the world. Over the course of six weeks, they will work in four selected teams on current challenges in the field. The research teams are defined by their respective target topics. For this year's 32nd edition of JSALT, the topics are:

• Expert-Level Reasoning and Understanding in Large Audio Language Models
• End to End multi channel multi talker ASR, EMMA
• TTS4ALL: TTS in low resource scenarios: data management, methodology, models, evaluation
