Identification of Time Constants Based on Relay Feedback

A number of various algorithms was designed for control in feedback systems. According to the required quality of the solution it is possible to use either simple on-off regulators or more complicated algorithms, mostly PID regulator structure, or dead-beat performance algorithms. The success of the control design depends not only on the type of regulator but also on the choice of its parameters (tuning). Therefore it is necessary to know the static and dynamic properties of the controlled system. There are some methods that permit identification of these parameters. At the Technical University of Brno a simple identification method suitable for stable SISO systems without zeros is being developed.
