The course is for complete beginners in Russian.
The material is based on developing the communicative competence,especially in listening comprehension and effective reading and writing skills.
Within the course students are also informed about the country,its culture,customs and specifications.
Practising the new material and developing communicative skills is emphasized.

Student
-will master the writing system of Russian language:
-will apply the knowledge to be able to read and write in Cyrillic.
-will response adequately to heard and written information.
-will master basic grammar structures and their applying in speaking and writing activities.
-will be able to apply the acquired knowledge in common everyday situations.

Prerequisite knowledge and skills

The course is for beginners and false beginners.

Syllabus of seminars

Tutorial 1-13
1-2. Introduction to Russian,first steps with the Cyrillic and pronunciation.Practising writing skills in Cyrillic and pronunciation,basic language structures.
3-4. Lesson 1 -further practising of basic patterns in speaking. Greetings,basic sentence types ,specifications of word stress. Meeting and introducing,intonation of questions and affirmative sentences.
5-6. Lesoon 2 - family,specifications of forms of address,basic numerals. Intoducing other people,professions,expressing of "I like",possessive adjectives.
7-8. Lesson 3 - giving personal information,verb conjugation in present tense,forming negative with verbs. States and nationalities.
9-10. Lesson 4 - explaining misunderstandings, expressing interest,possession,days of the week,further numerals. Educational systems in RF and CR.
11-12. Lesson 5 - my family,invitation(accepting and rejecting);I and II verb conjugation. Revision.
13.Semester credit test.

Progress assessment

Classified credit unit - written form - assessment of material knowledge acquired acording to the course plan:
mark according to the results within 50-100%.

Teaching methods and criteria

Teaching methods depend on the type of course unit as specified in the article 7 of BUT Rules for Studies and Examinations.
Teaching methods include language seminars and homework. Students have to actively participate in classes.
Presenting and application of new topics using multimedia, simulation of real situations.
Exercises developing communication skills in both oral and written forms.

75% active tuition attendance.
