Study targets

The aim of the Master Study Programme Electrical Engineering and Computer Science is to prepare alumni who are able to design, and to use both hardware and software systems on a high professional level. Alumni are ECBS (Engineering of Computer-Based Systems) scientists and designers.

Condition for admitting is a completed secondary education.

Key learning outcomes

The current MSc programme, the last graduates of which will be leaving in 2005/2006, is no longer provided for external applicants. The FIT BUT accredited a two-year MSc study programme in Information Technology last year. The structure of this study programme corresponds to the EU Bologna declaration and it is a continuation to the three-year Bachelor´s study programme. The Bachelor´s study programme will start in the academic year 2002/2003. As the MSc study programme will follow the Bc studies, it will start in 2004/2005.

Work experience

Special practice in companies is not prescribed.

Course of study

During the master study, the student is required to earn 300 credit points in the prescribed structure for compulsory and elective courses of the own study branch, and of the recommended courses selected from other study branches of the faculty inclusively of a foreign language. The obligatory part of the education in the programme is an elaboration and defence of one individual technical project. The obligatory part of the final state examination is the elaboration of the Master Thesis, and its presentation and successful defence at the state examination board. Master Study Programme Electrical Engineering and Computer Science is run-out programme. The last state examination will be in June 2007.

Availability of further education

The graduates may continue in a doctoral study programme.
