Abstract
This paper is focused on process modelling languages. The two widely adopted
languages BPMN and BPEL are discussed, evaluated and compared on the basis of
six criteria. The results of this evaluation could be used in order to design different modelling
approaches based on a high-level universal programming language. The construction of a
process model, including how the basic workflow patterns are defined, is presented using the
object-oriented scripting language Python. The resulting model is then evaluated according to
the stated criteria.
