Abstract
This paper designs new architecture of integrated development environment for 8-bit softcore processor, Xilinx PicoBlaze-3;. We introduce the integration of compilation, debugging, and simulation tools for small processors and discuss the pros and cons with respect to use of these tools in the software development for programmable hardware architectures such as small FPGA-based embedded systems. Further, we present the architecture of the high-level programming language compiler and simulation-based debugging tool in more detail.
