The Themes of Lectures Devote to the Principles of Peripheral Operation Control and the Communication Both Between the CPU and a Controller and Between a Controller and a Peripheral Device. Typical types of interfaces (Centronics) and buses (SCSI) are described in details. The themes of laboratory tutorials are ditected towards completeing the knowledge gained during lectures (the communication with peripheral devices, peripheral operations control, the communication on buses).

Students will become acquainted with the principles of peripheral operation control and with the functions which must be covered by a peripheral device controller. In the future, this knowledge will allow them to solve problems combined with an external adapter design controlling a peripheral device operation.

Learning objectives

To provide students with the knowlwdge on the principles of peripheral operation control, the principles of communication between a controller and a peripheral device.
