Description

MAXTOR is a tool for extracting multimedia data from disk images of various computer and mobile systems. Supported disc formats are RAW and E01. The disk partition table can be either a Master Boot Record (GPT) or GUID Partition Table (GPT). Supported file systems include EXT2, EXT3, EXT4, NTFS, FAT12, FAT16, FAT32, and UFS, as well as APFS and HFS.

The role of the tool is to recursively pass input system images and then extract multimedia data. A number of multimedia data formats are configurable and include e.g. jpeg, bmp, tiff, png, but also mpeg, mkv, mp4. The tool can optionally extract containers that can potentially carry multimedia content, such as doc, docx, epub, pdf, ods, odp, ppt, pptx, rtf, xls, xlsx, or even archives such as zip, rar, 7z, zlib, tar, gz, etc.
