analysis, investigations, intelligence
COP IDCOP IDEA aims to enhance cooperation between police, customs, and judicial
authorities to combat migrant smuggling,
human trafficking (THB), and related poly-criminal activities across key routes,
with a focus on the Central and Eastern
Mediterranean, and Western Balkans. The project utilizes a "Phygital" approach,
merging digital (OSINT-SIGINT) and physical
(HUMINT) intelligence to counter evolving criminal threats across migration
routes.
Specific Objectives:
-Phygital Investigations via FAST Platform: The project will create and implement
an AI-based platform to support intelligence-led
investigations, integrating digital and physical data. This platform will be the
result of a system integration of different off-the-shelf
solutions and tools already developed in previous EU-funded projects.
-Follow the Money: Advanced tools that expand the FAST Platform capabilities will
be introduced to monitor financial transactions,
enhancing the ability to trace funds used for migrant smuggling and THB.
-South-East Europe Coordination: Two centers will be established in Italy and
Greece to coordinate national and EU-level efforts in
combating smuggling and trafficking. These centers will facilitate
investigations, focusing on high-value targets. Furthermore, the
project will provide funds for operative missions aimed at developing specialized
investigations, human resources and technologies
to the project partners on the target areas, based on the identification of high
value targets (HVTs).
-Training: Specialized training will be delivered using VR and immersive methods,
ensuring law enforcement and judicial staff are
equipped to handle complex investigations.
- Communication: A virtual platform will promote collaboration, facilitating
communication and sharing of best practices among EU
stakeholders. This will be complemented by three lines of communication and
dissemination activities that will engage stakeholders,
cascade the project results and its impact
