Description

The demonstrator was developed in accordance with a CubeSat standard for a 1U form-factor requirements. Main structural frame of the satellite was designed and manufactured from FDM 3D print PEEK (poly-ether-ether-ketone) material. The 6-parts frame construction is assembled together with bolt joints and shape locks. Custom deployment switch mechanism located in the frame rails was also designed.

Inside, the CubeSat houses an electronic stack containing flight controller, communication and electric power system modules. The electronic box is connected to the CubeSat main structure through four long screws. Other modules such as sun sensors, access port and solar panels are attached to the structure from outside. The demonstrator is also equipped with 2MPx camera. BUTCube is capable of on-request picture taking and post processing demonstrating the flight mission and systems testing of connected modules, sensors and SW. Mechanical and electronic interfaces including deployment switch actuation of Electric Power System can be also used for CubeSat standardized modules testing.
