Abstract
Ultra wideband (UWB) as a wireless personal area network (WPAN) technology is gaining prominence of late. Impulse UWB and multi-carrier UWB are its two commonly known forms [1]. The IEEE 802.15.3 Working Group specifications recommend convolutional encoding and Viterbi decoding for forward error correction (FEC) [3]. In this paper, we illustrate the design and modelling aspects of serially concatenated convolutional codes (SCCC) for impulse UWB and present the corresponding simulation results. In addition, we present their performance analysis in comparison with the other UWB FEC schemes.
