Abstract
In the paper, we describe the design and simulation of a small bow-tie slot antenna with a coplanar waveguide (CPW) feed. The antenna was designed for wireless communication between the aerobatic aircraft and a ground base station in the WIFI frequency band 5.150 - 5.875 GHz (modified IEEE 802.11a). We developed a fractal-like concept which enabled us to design an electrically small antenna with reduced dimensions and an improved radiation pattern. The antenna was designed considering a single-layer technology. For the fabrication, we used a dielectric substrate (FR4).
