First semester at the FIT BUT? Don´t worry, we're here to help you!
Enrolment
What do I bring to enrolment?
Have you met all the admission requirements? Congratulations! It's only by enrolling that you become a regular student of the FIT. You will need the following for the enrolment:
(optional) one 3.5x4.5 cm photograph, legibly signed and provided with your personal identification number on the reverse side (if this is easier for you than supplying the photograph electronically on the website). A decent selfie against a light monochromatic background is sufficient;
officially authenticated copy of your school-leaving certificate - you cannot be enrolled without providing a proof of secondary education nostrification clause.
Enrollment will be handled in person and it is also possible to handle it by distance using mail. We will inform you in e-application and by letters.
Enrolment on 17 June
The date of enrolment is indicated in the electronic application or in the news on the faculty's homepage. The place and time of the enrolment will also be announced to the candidate in the invitation to enrol. If you cannot enrol in person, you can be enrolled by an authorised representative.
Additional dates
If you cannot attend the enrolment yourself, you can enroll through a legal representative with a power of attorney. Additional dates for enrolling will be 7 July and 14 September.
After enrolment
BUT Information System
After your admission, you can access the personal number, initial password and a birth code for foreigners. Using this password, personal number or the birth code, you can activate your BUT account by setting a so called BUTPassword. Personal number and BUTPassword are going to be used for the school-wide agendas.
IS FIT (Інформаційна система FIT)
The Faculty has its own information system accessible using the faculty account. A summary on when to use which account is provided in the document on accounts; the homepage of the information system contains a link to the faculty login and password. The access to the IS FIT is granted after the enrollements are processed, which might take a while.
Request for Accomodation
Students are supposed to book an accommodation on-line by completing the Request for Accommodation. It is extremely important to apply for accommodation well in advance. Furhtermore, students with a visa obligation have to attach confirmation on accommodation to their visa application - the confirmation will be sent to student via email and to the particular embassy via data box after the delivery of all the visa application materials. For detailed information about the application (including deadlines), please refer to the ACS pages.
Student Identity Card
Another important step is to order a student identity card. On this page you can upload your photograph and select whether you wish to obtain a BUT student identity card or an ISIC card at a reduced price. You must provide a photograph and you must order a card. If you order your card in time (ideally by the end of July), you will receive it at the beginning of September. Otherwise, you will have no card during the first week of the semester (your colleagues will have to open the doors for you and you will not receive lunch in the canteen). Your student identity card serves as proof of study pursuant to the law (Section 57 (1)(a) of the Act on Higher Education Institutions).
Before the beginning of teaching
Courses
You will be automatically entrolled into all compulsory courses. Before the semester starts, you can look over the courses offered in the summer semester and, if you want, register elective courses. Registration for elective courses starts in the middle of September and ends at the end of the first week of the semester.
In addition to compulsory courses, IKK will be automatically enrolled for 0 credits. However, it is not a traditional elective course, but registration for circular consultations, which are meetings between first-year students and academics who will provide them with valuable advice and information needed at the beginning and throughout their studies. In the IKK virtual course, students register in circles of 20, each completing a minimum of three one-hour consultations with an academic.
Recognition of passing an examination in the English language
As a rule, classes in the winter semester begin the last but one week in September (in 2022 this will be the week beginning Monday 19 September); the exact date is determined by the Academic Calendar. You can visit the faculty and collect your BUT student identity card or ISIC starting from approximately the first week in September (the exact date and instructions will be made available in the Study News).
The traditional Start@FIT event (faculty event page, detailed programme) starts on the 15 September 2022, it introduces new students to the faculty and to one another. The students will receive basic information about their studies and learn how to use available information systems. They will also learn how to search for information that might be needed during their studies. We recommend that that the participants move into the dormitories on 14 September 2022. This option should be available online. If it is not, it can be arranged by phone or in person with the contact persons at the Halls of Residence. Just mention that you are attending Start@FIT.
Training Lessons
The event will begin with compulsory training lessons on the use the information system and schedule creation, which will take place on Thursday. These tutorials will help you find your way around the information system and introduce you to schedules and registrations in courses and activities, which will start on Saturday. Student ID cards or ISIC cards will be issued simultaneously, as well as welcome packs.
The "Closed doors day" and escape game also takes place. The detailed schedule is going to be published later.
