Abstract

This thesis aims to gain knowledge in the field of password security and then use the knowledge in the creation of a password checker. The focus is mainly on password guessing analysis. Various methods for password guessing are analyzed in this work and then compared with the results obtained by Parish. Then we use the generated passwords from password guessers to create a weak dataset which we analyse using various methods. The knowledge gained from the analysis is used to create a reactive and proactive password checker. At the end of the work, the effectiveness of the created password checkers is tested and evaluated.
