Abstract
This paper deals with a new approach for the fingerprint image quality testing. Some metrics for such purpose are well known - e.g. contrast differences or the average value of grayscale information in an image. These methods are shortly mentioned at the beginning, but the main goal of this article is to present a new method for the evaluation of fingerprint image which can indicate whether an image is suitable for further processing or not. The method tests whether the crosscut of some papillary line differs from the ideal case of papillary line (a sinusoidal curve).
