The paper summarizes research of slot antennas for on-body communication which have been designed and tested at Brno University of Technology. Directive antennas are represented by a triangular slot monopole and fractal-like slot dipole. A fractal loop and a circular ring-slot antenna fed by substrate integrated waveguide (SIW) are representatives of omnidirectional antennas. The antennas have been designed for the operation in IMS frequency bands. Functionality of designed antennas was numerically tested using a simplified three-layer phantom and a realistic voxel phantom. Experiments were carried out using a phantom fabricated from a modified agar gelatin.
