Hanáček Petr, doc. Dr. Ing., UITS (FIT)
This paper discusses the proposal of protecting mobilebanking applications on an Android platform. The mobile platform surpasses computers in itspopularity in many aspects of ones daily routine. One of the basic feature is its connection to the internetand the possibility of transferring money usingthe mobile device. Despite threats that are availableon mobile devices like security breaches, dataleakage and other types of malware, the popularityof using mobile banking is more popular than afew years ago. Mobile banking applications havethe same security protection as any other mobileapplication, thus without additional specific protectionfor mobile banking supported by an operatingsystem. This paper proposes novel protectionfor applications which checks if the mobile bankingapplication communicates to the current bankcompany and the data (usually passwords, moneyamount etc.) are not sent to someone else. Thereis a discussion about another control mechanism:permissions which are used to access mobile devicehardware.
