On Practical Aspects of Printable Polymer and Nanometal Logic
Polymer or organic electronics becomes a focus of intense research and development in recent years. Materials for polymer electronics are lighter, flexible and less expensive in comparison with traditional anorganic materials used in electronics (e.g. copper and silicon) and can be printed easily. Combined with nanometal materials for inkjet printing that brings conductivity comparable with traditional conductive materials, a big potential of new applications arises. Existing printed electronic structures such as field-effect transistors or resistors and manufacturing techniques of these structures enable to create flexible, customized and fitting printed logic circuits. The paper describes discovered features of suitable materials, techniques and structures for printed logic circuits and reports about initial research activities in the field of printed logic circuits.
